Business Need

Based in San Francisco, Westfield Labs supports the global Westfield Group through the development of digital platforms and products. Tigerspike partnered with Labs to build Dine on Time, an app that lets busy shoppers skip the line at restaurants in its food court and pay for their meal via mobile. The app allows users to browse menus of the participating restaurants, add items to their carts and check out. Before ordering, users receive an estimate for when their food will be ready, and it sends a text message when it actually is. After that, users can either pick up their food or choose to have it delivered.

Approach

Food represented one of the key areas where Westfield could forge a direct relationship with its visitors. It was critical to understand how to create value for both visitors and food tenants in delivering the Dine on Time service. While the service has been prototyped and honed in San Francisco, the ambition is to be able to deliver the product into Westfield markets globally. Tigerspike worked with the Westfield Labs product team to deliver technical and design consulting for the multi-platform product set.

Outcome

Tigerspike delivered robust web and iPhone apps that road tested an advanced range of features supporting the Dine on Time experience. As part of this delivery, Tigerspike provided the critical documentation and application blueprints that will enable this to be fully integrated into the global suite of Westfield digital services. Over the top applications are growing Westfield's access to customers and creating new business channels the complement and extend their traditional businesses for a digital age.
