Business Challenge


Transport for NSW discovered that people were largely unaware of obstacles they may encounter that would impact their travel route. Also, a number of unofficial and unsophisticated digital traffic services had appeared which did not provide timely information.

Opportunity


The Live Traffic iOS and Android mobile Apps enable drivers to view traffic conditions of planned routes, and receive real time voice updates while they are driving to reduce the risk of drivers looking at their device while driving.

The iPhone app achieved over 240,000 downloads within 12 months and was featured under New & Noteworthy in the App Store. The popularity of the mobile Live Traffic service has transformed the way drivers in NSW access real-time traffic leading to better use of the roads and strengthening the Transport for NSW brand.
