As UX Lead in a small, but growing team in New York, you’ll be expected to wear multiple hats spending your time split between project work and new business.

Reporting into the Head of Experience Design, you will oversee projects across disciplines in experience design, driving towards effective solutions for our clients. Stakeholder management and education in the value of UX will be a key part of the position. You’ll partner with our clients to cover all phases of the experience design process ranging from Discovery (industry, business and user research), Design, Development and Deployment.

The UX Lead is the epitome of a split between maker and manager—and is expected to be a ‘T’ shaped individual who can understand the entirety of the experience design process and own the life of any project as the direction-setter, provide oversight, conduct hands-on work, and manage the quality of all deliverables coming out of the projects.

What experience/ skills do I need?

  • At least 8 years of professional work within the experience design field, preferably from a consulting or agency setting
  • Minimum of 3 years performing at a Senior UX Designer level
  • A sense of entrepreneurship- you’re a self-starter and a leader who always asks “why”
  • Strong client-facing presentation skills; confident ability to present to clients at all levels
  • A consultative mindset: Understanding the client’s challenges, becoming their partner, advising and supporting them in driving successful outcomes
  • Strategic thinking with a solid understanding of research and design best practices
  • Deep knowledge of design principles for iOS, Android and Web solutions (including Responsive Design and native applications)
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, InVision, Omnigraffle, Axure, Keynote, etc
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating approach, process and outcome for a full project from strategy to design implementation.  (Design thinking, generative and evaluative research, information architecture, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, designs etc.)
  • The ability to work on and manage multiple project work concurrently 
  • Proficiency in project estimations, timeline and team resourcing
